Marcel Breuer MR Chair — Provenance: Walker Art Center
An exceptional example of Marcel Breuer’s iconic MR Chair, originally designed in 1927 and produced by Knoll. This particular chair comes directly from the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, where it served in the museum’s private collection and saw use by numerous visiting artists — including the likes Keith Haring, among others.
A masterpiece of modernist design, the MR Chair epitomizes Breuer’s pioneering use of tubular steel and cantilevered form, merging industrial innovation with sculptural elegance. The frame retains its original chrome-plated finish and patina, paired with its original leather seat and back — a testament to its authenticity and remarkable preservation. Some chairs maintain original Knoll label, but others have been removed/worn off over time.
A rare opportunity to own a piece that bridges Bauhaus design heritage and contemporary art history.
Chairs are priced individually, with bundle pricing available.
